It's not always once and done, follow the link to read about this special couple!

How often do you plan to wear your wedding dress? A few weeks ago I saw a Facebook post asking how many still fit in their wedding dress. I won’t ask that here but would love to hear how often you have or plan to put the dress back on?

Follow the Her vow to keep wearing this wedding dress sparked a sweet travel tradition link to be inspired to use that dress each and every year! I would even image that putting the dress back on will also help on those days and times when your not feeling your best and need a pick me up to remember all the fun and energy your relationship once had.

So ladies, pull out the dress, put it on and watch your wedding film, look through your wedding photos, and hold each other like the first time!

2021 Wedding Look back

We started our wedding season in March this year with Katie and Colton Bean. They were married March 27th at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bettendorf, IA. This week marks their 6 month anniversary!

This was the first time we filmed at Redeemer Lutheran and it was a very nice experience. I have been to another event at the church before but this was the first time working there. The paster Joel Nau was very nice and helpful to work with.

Since this was the first time filming there I attended their rehearsal at no charge. When possible I try to attend rehearsal’s, especially when it’s an unfamiliar location. It’s important to me that I know what will be taking place at your ceremony, While many ceremonies follow a similar script, each church, venue, family, and officiant has their own unique twist and as a photographer or videographer, I need to be prepared for anything. Observation and understanding are very important skill sets for your vendors to be able to meet your needs and anticipate opportunities.

After the ceremony Katie and Colton’s party bus brought the wedding party to Crow Creek Park in Bettendorf for photos with their photographer Marla Brown of Claussen Photography. She was easy to work with and made the day enjoyable.

Once their photos were completed the party moved to Stoney Creek Inn in Moline, IL. While I had not filmed at their church, I have been to Stoney Creek many times over the year. Stoney Creek is a very nice location for a wedding reception. If your looking for great walkable locations for photos the John Deere Pavilion, Tax Slayer Center, Kone Building, and Bass Street Landing are close by. Stoney Creek is able to create a few different looks for your wedding reception as they have the ability to change the room size and head table location. Their ceiling is a tad low for tossing a bouquet but the chandeliers are a nice prop for the dance floor all night long.

Once again congratulations to Katie and Colton on their 6th month anniversary. Please enjoy their highlight film as a way of looking back at their special day.

Happy Post Valentine's Day!

Congratulations to all the newly engaged couples out there. We hope you had a wonderful Valentine’s Day.

So this post is about you and your engagement story and a little about me and mine. Please use the comment area to describe how your proposal went. Here is my story:

A long time ago on a hot summer day…I had recently returned from coaching at the UCONN Women’s Basketball Camp in Storrs, CT. I had taken two of my former players with me this year to help coach and we had all visited New York together. While in New York I stopped by Tiffany’s to buy an engagement ring for my then girlfriend.

On to the next part planning the question. So I decided to make this a scavenger hunt theme. I spelled out each letter of W-I-L-L Y-O-U M-A-R-R-Y M-E and created a path around the Quad Cities to various places that meant something to our relationship. Then I wrote clues to the various locations and asked her sister to plant a couple of gifts along the way. Her sister had no clue what was the ultimate goal, she just thought it was a date thing. Oh so wrong. I sometimes wonder if she regrets her part in this? Hmmm.

So we left her house on a date, she was given a clue to the first stop and she had to figure out where we needed to go, at each point of the journey I either gave her a card, gift, picked up something for dinner (final spot we sat in a park on a swing and ate.), and so on. With each stop she also received a letter from the question. How she didn’t know what was going on I really don’t know, but after 11 years of marriage I have figured out a few things.

So hours later we are at Crow Creek Park in Bettendorf, IA and we are sitting in the swing eating a sandwich and enjoying some wine, she now has all the clues, letters, and the sun is setting over the pond. I ask her to figure out the words from the letters and she is confused at her attempts, so I got down on my knee and helped her out then showed her the ring and asked her in person. Pretty good night I would say.

OK, your turn now.
